Sag Harbor

Sag Harbor, Starlight’s summer home, provides many great opportunities for sailing, along with fantastic dining and entertainment.  Sag is centrally located amongst many amazing destinations including Shelter Island, East Hampton and Montauk.   The North Fork wine country is also an easy trip where we can arrange bicycles and vineyard tours.  Sag Harbor is surrounded by numerous quiet anchorages and great spots to explore by dinghy, kayak or paddleboard after a magnificent sail on Gardiners Bay.  Many great restaurants including Salt on Shelter Island and the restaurants of East Hampton’s Three-Mile Harbor are well within reach on your charter.

Here is a summary of some of the great things to do on a day charter aboard Starlight this summer:

  • Sailing in Gardiners Bay, the Peconic Bay and Shelter Island Sound
  • Anchoring at lovely swimming spots off Shelter Island, East Hampton and the North Fork

Getting to Sag Harbor:

Sag Harbor is a short two-and-a-half hour trip from New York City by bus, train or car, or a short flight from Manhattan.  Once in Sag Harbor, Starlight sits right in the harbor mooring field.  For your charter, arrangements will either be made with the local water-taxi service or to come in and pick you up at one of the town’s dock facilities.

The Hampton Jitney has direct service to Sag Harbor

Long Island Railroad runs to Bridghampton, which is about five-miles away by Taxi.  Hometown Taxi and other taxi services serving Sag Harbor can be found on Yahoo Local.

Sound Aircraft runs many Seaplane services to the Hamptons and Sag Harbor.

The Sag Harbor Launch provides service to Starlight in the mooring field.

Sag Harbor Dining:

While part of the fun in chartering is exploring fantastic restaurants we find along the way, but Sag Harbor itself provides for some truly outstanding dining.   From American to Seafood, Asian, Italian and French, Sag Harbor has delightful restaurants for just about every taste.   Some of our many favorites include the following:

Dockside Bar and Grill is a Sag Harbor staple.  Situated right on the harbor, the outdoor patio is a fantastic place to eat and drink.  Try the Spicy Lulu Salad and don’t miss the Lobster Cod Cakes when they are on the menu.

Muse in the Harbor has great options for Brunch and Dinner.  Try the French Toast with Peanut Butter Mouse for Brunch and the Pork Three-Ways for dinner.

Il Cappacino is the town’s Italian staple providing delicious options.  Try the Mussels or the Tortellini al Pistaccio.

Sag Harbor Arts:

The Bay Street Theater often brings big talent from New York into their season of plays and works with occasional music and comedy.

Sag Harbor Cinemas features foreign, classic, and Art House Films.
